Peer Institutions

As of early 2010, UCF developed a list of 22 peer institutions for benchmarking purposes. The list aligns with UCF’s 2009 Strategic Plan and it will be held static over the course of the planning horizon. The Comparison Peers are appropriate for benchmarking purposes, while additional Aspirational Peers are considered to be stronger in some measures and may assist in target setting exercises.

The selection process began by identifying a large pool of institutions using nationally published rankings and classification data. Next, the institutions were grouped using cluster analysis methods that considered factors including surrounding population, student body, faculty and financial characteristics, among others. This cluster analysis was performed as an iterative process, allowing for careful consideration at each step. Finally, administrative input was considered and the list was finalized.

This list of peers for comparative analysis is maintained by IKM and is submitted annually to IPEDS for use in the annual IPEDS Data Feedback Report.
